What Lies In The Shadow Of The Statue & The Resurrection of John Locke

As Richard tells us, it is 'he who will save us all'.

None other than John Locke.

John Locke was targeted by Nemesis from birth(since he knew about him in 1954), beating him down at very turn, trying to make him weak. He did everything he could to make Locke want to give up. But for some reason, Locke held on. Why is it that John Locke has never been good at anything, has never succeeded at anything, yet so fervently yells at people 'DONT TELL ME WHAT I CAN'T DO!!!!'. What is the basis for that confidence?

Destiny, my friends.

John Locke, the supposed victim of Nemesis, the pawn of Nemesis for so many years, will eventually be the man who brings Nemesis to his knees.

He was resurrected when he fell out of the building. He was 'rose up' after the crash of 815. And now Jacob has made the ultimate sacrifice, allowing himself to be killed, knowing that it will bring about the final resurrection of John Locke.

Locke, the man The Others were always told would be special and save them(a lie told by Nemesis), will actually save us all.

This is why Locke had a suitcase full of knives . This is why Jacob has a knife on the beach. This is why John Locke chose the knife.

He's going to kill Nemesis with it.

The irony of course, is that Nemesis makes his own bed and then dies in it. Nemesis orchestrates the death of Locke, but in tern is sealing his own fate, allowing for Resurrected Locke to kill him. With every step of his plan, he was inching himself closer to his own demise. This is what happens when your knowledge of future events is limited.

so if Locke kills "Richard", will Nemesis die or does he also have to kill the other 2 heads? so he needs to kill "Christian" and "Claire'?

Since a dead Jack would create a perfect, definitional 'inverted Christian trinity', of Christian, Claire, & Jack(inverted meaning imitated), Jack must die before the final act of the show.

I assume this is how the writers will have Jack & Locke facing off in the final episode...Locke being resurrected, Jack being imitated by Nemesis.

I'm not sure how one 'kills' a Nemesis imitation, but I'm guessing only Locke will be capable. My opinion, and only that, is that since Alpert is now in the crosshairs(Ilana has sought him out for this reason), he will be one of the first identities to be uncovered as an imitation, along with fake Locke.

My best guess as to how Locke can 'kill' a Nemesis....the knife he chooses when Alpert tests him(makes sense that Alpert was so disturbed by Locke's decision), symbolically reinforced by Jacob's use of the knife on the beach, stabbing it into the ground as he sits with Nemesis, 50 feet away from the Statue.

oh and Locke has to kill "Locke" as well, i think

i actually forgot i theorized before that in season 6 we will see Locke vs Locke and Jack and Company won't be able to tell them apart

i was thinking a little different approach wherein Jacob inhabits dead Locke

hmm i wonder if Locke has to use an athame

"The stab it with their steely knives, but they just can't kill the beast"

if 1 "head" is killed what's to prevent another from popping up in it's place with all the unburied dead on the island

so ONLY Nemesis would know the answer to "What Lies int he Shadow of the Statue"?

why did she call him Richardos?

We may temporarily get to enjoy Fake Locke vs Resurrected Locke, after all, they are about 100 feet apart..
..but that's not a conflict that will stay exciting...

The writers won't be able to blindside us with a fake locke, we're already aware of him. The trick is that they will be blindsiding us with Fake Claire's, Fake Christian's, Fake Jack's...and many more.

And no I'm not saying only Nemesis would know(not sure where you got that idea). Followers of EITHER side, light or dark, would know the correct answer. They just interpret it differently, because they are convinced that THEY are the good guys. That's why both sides are always saying 'we're the good guys'. Because both sides truly believe they are saving the world. The light side believes they are killing the devil and doing the work of God, the good side believes they are saving the world and doing the work of God. In a way, both are right.

But they're not both right about which 'he' will save them all.

As for the 'heads'(remember this a metaphor), I don't think they can be killed unless a certain procedure is followed, i.e., Locke inspired by Jacob, using the knife.

Keep in mind that the '77 Losties are unaware of anyone being an imitation. There's a good chance they will return to the Island on the other side and have to pass through The Dark Territory, facing their greatest tests yet.
